Ian specialises in Dispute Resolution, and is a partner in hlw commercial lawyers LLP, having merged his sole practice with hlw in 2008 (after 14 years in his niche firm). He has been a committee member of the Society since 1991, and was privileged to serve as its President in 2005/6, in which year of office he was proud to have assisted in the launch of the Society's national and international marketing programme, Leeds Legal. A former Olympian and Commonwealth medalist athlete, he is still the holder of 10 British records, but these days pursues the less intense challenges of the golf course when not doing his best to be a lawyer.
