The trade mission, set to take place in autumn, comes after Leeds Legal’s successful international launch at the British Embassy in Brussels on the 7th and 8th June, organised by Leeds Legal’s main sponsor UK Trade & Investment. Business delegates from a host of industry sectors including; engineering, manufacturing and food services, with an interest in sourcing legal advice from UK lawyers, attended the business briefings.
The future visit, in conjunction with Marketing Leeds and the Leeds Financial Services Initiative, will further develop the links established at Leeds Legal’s Brussels event. It is set to open up substantial business opportunities for the Leeds legal profession and the Yorkshire region.
Alan Baker, Chairman of Leeds Legal, said: “The reaction to the initiative from the Brussels delegates was very positive and incredibly encouraging. We are now looking at plans to bring a trade delegation back to the UK to meet with advisors and business partners. Not only will representatives be able to explore and test the UK market but we will be there to help facilitate the process.”
Deborah Green is regional manager of the Law Society of England & Wales and one of the founding members of Leeds Legal. She comments on the Brussels launch, which was the first in a series of five international events that are taking place at EU business capitals: “One of our main aims is to bring business to the region by exploring new markets for legal services. Brussels was a great place to kick off our international campaign. During our time there we held highly productive meetings with the Office for Yorkshire and Humber, the Belgium-Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce, the Law Society and the British Embassy, all based in Brussels.
“Not only were we able to foster new links at the business briefings but we communicated the strengths of the Leeds legal profession, including no-nonsense advice and value for money service. I believe that this could be the start of new sustainable relationships that will encourage business to the Yorkshire region.”
Supported by the Leeds Law Society and the Law Society of England & Wales. Leeds Legal is spearheaded by Leeds firm Lupton Fawcett and the Leeds office of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary and Pinsent Masons.
