Leeds lawyers set to open legal links between Leeds and Dallas (21st June)

Just six months since their initial meeting with Leeds Legal, business leaders from Dallas are set to forge an alliance with lawyers from Leeds, following a second fact finding mission to the city this week.

The delegation from the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce’s UK taskforce, visited Leeds to learn more about the Leeds economy. During their three-day stay, they met with city-based organisations including Leeds Chamber of Commerce, Leeds Financial Services Initiative and Leeds City Council, as well as Leeds Legal.

With a view of exploring potential international trade links, Leeds Legal along with Pinsent Masons hosted a business breakfast allowing delegates to find out more about the UK’s second largest legal centre, whilst enjoying a traditional English breakfast! From this, the desire for reciprocal working was determined and Leeds Legal is looking at plans to take a legal delegation to Dallas next year.

Rosemary Edwards, director of Leeds Legal commented on the positive outcome of the business meeting: “The reaction to the Leeds Legal initiative from the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce was extremely encouraging. It is now very likely that the gateway will be opened for Leeds lawyers to work with businesses in Dallas. Because of this, we are now looking at taking a legal delegation to Dallas to meet with potential business partners.

“As the campaign is all about opening up and exploring international trade – this meeting has given us the ideal platform to do just that.”
