During the three-day visit, representatives of Leeds Legal, the UK’s only city-based legal sector marketing campaign, will host a seminar addressing issues concerning growing businesses and take part in a programme of meetings with Italian law firms.
Among those making the visit will be Leeds Legal chairman Alan M. Baker and directors Rosemary Edwards, a partner with Shulmans in the city, and Deborah Green, who is also chief executive of destination promotional agency Marketing Leeds.
Leeds Legal’s half-day seminar, entitled Growing Your Business, will take place on Thursday and is expected to attract more than 50 Milanese lawyers and business advisors.
The event will look at mergers, expansions and employment issues from UK and Italian perspectives. Key speakers will include Leeds lawyers Jeremy Shulman, chairman of Shulmans, based in Wellington Street, and Michele Phillips, director at Lupton Fawcett, whose offices are in East Parade.
Presentations will also be made at the event by two leading Italian lawyers and the seminar will conclude with a question and answer session chaired by Alan M. Baker.
The event is supported by the British Consulate in Milan, the Chamber for Commerce in Italy (BCCI) and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), the government organisation assisting domestic companies doing business internationally and overseas firms wanting to invest the UK.
Alan M. Baker said: “We’re delighted to be heading back to Milan this week. Working with the consulate, BCCI and UKTI, we’ve managed to prepare a really interesting seminar, which we hope will not only attract a large audience of Italian lawyers and business advisors but provide a useful base for sharing expertise.
“We’ve made excellent progress in communicating the benefits of Leeds as a legal centre to Italian firms on our previous visits and I’m delighted that this work has resulted in instructions for various firms here.”
The seminar and delegation visit are part of this week’s Leeds in Milan, a festival of commerce and culture, organised by Marketing Leeds.
Leeds Legal is an alliance of the city’s major law firms, which promotes practices in the area and the high levels of service, expertise, no nonsense advice and value for money they provide. The organisation administers an international programme of events, supported by UK Trade and Investment, and is one of the leading city-based marketing agencies to utilise a programme of inward and outbound delegation visits.
