Leeds Legal to deliver international growth seminar to Spanish lawyers (28th September)

A delegation from Leeds Legal has been invited to deliver a seminar to members of Barcelona’s legal community, to further develop a unique working partnership between the two cities.

Representatives from Leeds Legal - the only city-based legal sector marketing campaign in the country – will present a seminar on 2nd October, focusing on the model for success to grow a law firm, to the Barcelona Bar Association and the British Chamber of Commerce for Spain.

Chair of Leeds Legal, Alan M. Baker will chair the seminar, with presentations delivered by Leeds-based colleagues, Neil McLean, managing partner at DLA Piper, Jeremy Shulman, chairman of Shulmans and James Love, head of James Love Associates.

The seminar follows an outward visit by Leeds Legal to the Spanish city earlier this year, where a group of Leeds lawyers met with the Barcelona Bar Association and the British Chamber of Commerce for Spain during a three-day introductory visit.

Following the seminar, Alan M. Baker and Deborah Green, Leeds Legal’s chairman and director, respectively, will travel to Madrid to attend the International Bar Association (IBA) conference. The event will provide an ideal opportunity to meet up with colleagues from previous delegation visits including those from Italy, Spain and Hong Kong.

Mr Baker, said: “We were very pleased to be invited back to Barcelona to deliver the seminar, it’s a great opportunity to build on the links we established during the first visit. We identified many possible opportunities for Leeds lawyers and the wider business community to work with Spanish businesses in the Catalonian region.

“Building strong working relationships with international law firms is a key objective for the campaign, and the IBA conference will allow us to conduct follow-up meeting with key European and international colleagues to further develop collaborative working and cross-border referrals for Leeds lawyers.”

Colin Russell, regional sector specialist for professional and business services from UK Trade & Investment who is also taking part in the delegation visit, said: “Building relationships with our European and international counterparts is key to forging business links for Leeds law firms and the wider business community. The seminar will be a great opportunity to showcase the city’s legal expertise. The invitation to deliver such a seminar highlights the excellent relationship between the two cities, and is a testimony to the city’s legal credentials.”
