I originally engaged the services of Liz Wild at Wild & Co having been let down by the book keeper that I had originally engaged. I had started trading as an incorporated sole practitioner in September 2009 with a year end of December. I met with Liz in March 2010 with no proper accounts, an incorrect VAT return and being acutely aware that I was in a position that I didn't want to be in.
Liz immediately reassured me and took charge. So much so that she left our initial meeting instantly instructed with a big box of files and papers. Within a week she was on top of 15 months of receipts and invoices. Advice and software had also been provided to enable me to take matters forward once she had put everything in order.
Within two months my end of year accounts were completed, two tax computations completed, management accounts in order and my VAT up to date. All completed by Liz with very little fuss. I was regularly provided with updates both in terms of work completed and her costs (which are very reasonable).
Originally my intention had been to get Liz to get my accounts up to date and thereafter I would undertake monthly inputting myself. Liz would then complete my VAT returns. However, due to Liz's approach I changed that plan. Liz now undertakes my management accounts as well as VAT which she undertakes on a quarterly basis (which is as much as my business requires).
Within days of my year end in 2010 Liz had agreed with me a timetable for undertaking my year end accounts which was both realistic but remarkably quick. I have every faith that she will not only bring the accounts (and tax comp) well within her suggested time frame but also well within budget.
Liz also assists with the audit undertaken on my client account in accordance with the Solicitors Account Rules and liases with the auditors.
Whenever I ask for information, projections, questions Liz acts on it pretty much immediately. If she doesn't know the answer she will find out quickly- it's rare though for her not to know the answer in the first instance.
As Liz has got to know my business she has also started to make suggestions and always seems to be investigating different things that may benefit my business (at no extra cost).
Of most importance to me though is knowing that the work will be done, it will be done accurately and on time by someone who fully understands my business and works in an approachable but professional way.
