 Walker Morris helps close club

Lawyers from Walker Morris have assisted Humberside Police Authority in the successful interim closure of a licensed premises alleged to be involved in the sale of drugs.
The police force enlisted the help of licensing specialist Andrew Woods from the firm to obtain an ‘Expedited Summary Licensee Review’ under Section 53 (A) of the Licensing Act 2003.
Following the successful action, the licensed premises named Rouge (previously the Zebra Club) in the Witham area of Hull was ordered to close with immediate effect with a permanent decision as to the future of the licence being taken on 12 May.
Andrew Woods, partner in the firm’s Liquor, Betting & Gaming division said: “The Humberside Police Authority approached Walker Morris because of our specialist licensing knowledge and expertise which enabled us to assist them in this matter. The case involving Rouge is one of the first times that the Expedited Summary Licensee Review has been sanctioned since the measures came into force in 2006.”
