ELECTIONS FOR THE FIRST LEEDS JUNIOR LAWYERS DIVISION COMMITTEE

On 27 June 2008 Leeds Trainee Solicitors Group will join with Leeds Young Solicitors Group to become Leeds Junior Lawyers Division, and the Leeds TSG and YSG in their current form will dissolve. This reflects the recent merger between the National TSG and YSG groups, of which you may already be aware. Trainee solicitors and qualified solicitors up to five years PQE will be eligible to become members of Leeds JLD, as will GDL/LPC students and paralegals. (Effectively, all current Leeds TSG and YSG members can become members of the new Leeds JLD, and this will continue to operate as the Leeds TSG has successfully done so in previous years).
We are now inviting manifestos for candidates who wish to run for positions on the first Leeds JLD Executive Committee, and the elections for this committee will take place over the coming weeks.

The Executive shall be composed of the following positions:

Chair
Vice Chair
Secretary
Treasurer
Events Officer x 2
Student and Small Firms Representative
National JLD Liaison Officer
Publicity and Communications Officer
Sports Officer
Charities Officer

Only those eligible to be members of the Leeds JLD shall be eligible to fill the above positions.


If you wish to run for a position on the committee, please submit your manifesto for your chosen position (which should be no more than 200 words) to Julia Smith at jksmith@beachcroft.co.uk before 9am on Monday 9 June 2008. Manifestos submitted after this time will not be accepted.


The manifestos will then be circulated to the current Leeds TSG and YSG membership. Where more than one person has submitted a manifesto for any position, the membership will be asked to vote upon which candidate they prefer. Each member has one vote per position.


The results will be announced at the Leeds TSG Summer Cocktail Party on Friday 27 June 2008.
