Getting the best from your bank: free workshops
The Law Society has teamed up with Lloyds TSB to produce a series of free, interactive workshops on getting the best from your bank during the downturn. The events take place across England and Wales from 11 May. Topics include the credit assessment process and effective management of capital.

Anti-money laundering annual conference
The Law Society will be hosting its first full day anti-money laundering conference in London on 21 May. Experts will discuss risk assessment, setting up AML systems, training, warning signs and reporting obligations. Break out sessions will cater to different sizes and types of practice and the day will close with a drinks reception.

Law management annual conference
This year's Law Management Section conference on 29 April will cover the key themes affecting solicitors in today's market. Keynote speakers, including Professor Richard Susskind and Professor Stephen Mayson, will discuss topics such as restructuring for the future, the new regulatory framework and data protection. You can gain 5.5 hours CPD.

Minority Lawyers' Conference: book your place
The Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales and the Attorney General will be making keynote speeches at this year's Minority Lawyers' Conference. The conference is being held at the Law Society on 25 April and will provide a forum for black and minority ethnic lawyers to express their views and meet successful role models in the legal profession. It will also offer practical advice and support, and provide an opportunity to debate topical issues. The event is organised jointly by the Law Society and Bar Council, and will conclude with a champagne reception.

The winner of this year's Graham Turnbull essay competition will be announced at a prize giving event on 29 April at the Law Society. This year's essay title was: 'can international human rights law provide meaningful obligations for business?'.
