LEEDS JLD COMMITTEE ELECTIONS
08/07/09
Alas, the time of year has come for us committee members to step down from our posts and allow a new committee to take the reigns. We hope that you have enjoyed the range of social, educational and sporting activities that we have arranged over the past year and that a new committee will continue the busy schedule.
JLD membership is open to trainee solicitors, solicitors up to five years PQE and Paralegals.
We are now inviting manifestos for candidates who wish to run for positions on the Leeds JLD Committee. To stand for a committee position you must be an eligible JLD member i.e. a paralegal, trainee or solicitor up to 5 years PQE at the time you stand for election and continue in one of these categories throughout your year of office.
The positions available on the next Committee are;
Chair
Vice Chair
Treasurer
Secretary
Events Officer x 2
FELT Officer (Firms with Eight or Less Trainees) (candidate must be from a firm within this category)
Website Officer
Publicity Officer
Sports Officer
Charities Officer
See attached for further details at http://www.leedslawsociety.org.uk/members/documents/zjzg6ea6nndm.pdf
If you wish to run for a position on the committee, please submit your manifesto for your chosen position (which should be no more than 200 words) to Ruth Cockshott at ruth.cockshott@gordonsllp.com before 4pm on Thursday 23 July 2009. Manifestos submitted after this time will not be accepted.
Where more than one person has submitted a manifesto for any position, the JLD eligible membership will be asked to vote for a candidate they prefer. Each member has one vote per position and will need to clearly state their job title and firm with their vote.
The results will be announced at the Leeds JLD Summer Event on Friday 7 August 2009 and the official Committee handover will take place on 20 August 2009.
We look forward to hearing from you!
